THE TAY DISTRICT SALMON FISHERIES BOARD
PROTECTING & IMPROVING THE TAY
The Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board is the statutory body empowered to protect and improve the salmon fisheries in the Tay district. This means looking after not just Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and sea trout (Salmo trutta) but the River Tay system as a whole. This website provides details of its activities, including information on governance, meetings and information on the salmon and salmon fisheries of the River Tay, the largest salmon river in Scotland.
The Board is made up of salmon fishery owners or their representatives elected to represent the Upper and Lower parts of the catchment and coopted members who represent anglers and tenant netsmen.
The Board has offices and a hatchery close to the city of Perth and employs water fisheries officers and biologist. Together they look after over 5,000 miles of rivers, burns and lochs.
Their work includes enforcement, river management, conservation and scientific research.
A comprehensive description of the Board’s work is available on the projects page.
The Board holds regular meetings which the public can attend as observers, although some agenda items might require to be considered in private.
TDSFB Minutes: Please note that Minutes from the most recent Board meeting will not appear on the website until they have been ratified by the Board at the following Board meeting. For example, Minutes from the February meeting will not appear on the website in February, but will be posted after they are ratified at the April meeting.
The Board and staff have been hard at work finalising the 3 year plan – TDSFB River Plan 2022 to 24 document – We would like your feedback, in this online survey.
The current Board undertook to carry out a satisfaction survey on our activities over the last year. Please read the TDSFB document attached regarding 2021 River Plan Outcomes before answering the survey.
