BOARD ELECTION RESULTS 2023 AND CALL FOR CO-OPTEES

Dec 7, 2023 | News

FOLLOWING THE TRIENNIAL BOARD ELECTION 2023, WE ARE NOW INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR CO-OPTED MEMBERS TO THE BOARD

On 6 December 2023, the triennial election of qualified proprietors to the Board took place at the Birnam Institute.

No vote was required for the two lower proprietor places as only two candidates stood. Therefore David Godfrey (Tay Salmon Fishings Company) and Depute Provost Andrew Parrott (Perth and Kinross Council) were re-elected to the board.

Seven candidates stood for the five upper proprietor places. A election was required therefore, and the candidates received the following votes.

Toby Metcalfe (Crown Estate Scotland) 49 votes

Claire Mercer Nairne (Meikleour) 38 votes

Iain Wood (Islamouth Fishings) 37 votes

Michael Smith (Burnmouth) 34 votes

Bobby White (Stanley Fishings) 23 votes

John Nevin (North Chesthill) 21 votes

Grant Kellie (Grange of Aberbothrie) 17 votes.

Toby Metcalfe, Claire Mercer Nairne, Iain Wood, Michael Smith, and Bobby White were therefore elected.

INVITATION TO JOIN THE BOARD AS A CO-OPTED MEMBER

The elected proprietorial representatives now extend an invitation to members of the public to apply to join the board as either representatives of salmon anglers or tenant netsmen, as per the Act.

Therefore, if you feel that you qualify for either of those categories and consider that you have something to offer the board, then please get in touch. No experience is necessary, but we will be looking at skill sets across the whole board and hoping to fill in any gaps through co-option. The types of skills we are looking for can be found here. Of course, you don’t have to have all of them, but having some will help.

Further details on what membership of the Board entails can be found here.

So, if you feel you have something to offer, then please send a CV or letter of interest to Dr David Summers, Fisheries Director (director@tdsfb.org), or at Tay DSFB, Site 6, Cromwellpark, Almondbank, Perth, PH1 3LW, by 29 December 2023.
